Calangute Beach:

This is one of beaches that lie on the vast coast line of North Goa. Interconnected with Baga, Candolim and 2 smaller beaches or Nerul and Sinquerim, it attracts approx. 2.5 million visitors each year including 400,000 foreign tourists. The best time to visit is between October and May for beach shacks and watersports activities, but the beach in general is open all throughout the year. In the morning as you stroll around you spot foreigners sun bathing under beach umbrellas all day long, as you walk through the white sands of Calangute. Up above you will see people “Parasailing” and a number of fishing boats lined up for the first catch of the day!

In case you are tired, you can visit the near shacks made of bamboo and coconut branches, which offer shade , food and drink. After lunch you can take dip in the beach waters (life guards are always close by) and enjoy the evening sunset. The “Pani Puri Chat Wallas” and ice cream wallas are always ready to serve you! Although the best fun starts at sunset. A venue for Bollywood film shootings and major corporate events in the past, the beach lights up like a fireball for parties and flea markets alike. Calangute is also commercialized with a string of shops offering their trinkets and exotic jewelry to Indian and foreign tourists alike. You will never go hungry as shops are open till the early morning to make sure everyone gets a nice bite of life in Goa!

You have to take a once in a lifetime pilgrimage to Calangute with your friends and family.

Baga Beach:

Not so far off on the same stretch of beautiful beaches is Baga beach. Originally a travel destination and party zone for hippies in the early 80’s. Baga has also developed into a tourist hub in the recent years.

As if going to the beach was not enough, you have beach side villas, wooden huts, hotels with swimming pools, all night long parties, Cuisines from all other South , North, Mugal and West India, served on a platter. But people come here to enjoy the Fish, Feni, and beer, grilled on a beach side barbeque, the aroma entices almost everyone. One can also catch a glimpse of the Baga fort resting on the hilltop!

One of the recent attractions of Candolim beach is the, “Scuba diving institutes” that were setup in the 90’s.  Daily trips for, “Grande / Treasure Island” and “Dolphin Safari” also leave from the beaches of Candolim.  Fort Aguada and its lighthouse are a picturesque enclosing the golden coastline, if you ever happen to visit Candolim!

The Clear waters of Candolim make it the perfect spot for Fishing, Snorkeling and just lying on the beach and having fun! Little Chapora Shiva’s head, sums it all up! Most of the people who come here are in search of enlightenment, trying to live the moment and rediscover themselves through the path of meditation!.

About 90% of the trance / rave parties take place here and it’s an awesome sight to behold with some the world famous DJ’s hypnotizing the crowd to their tune, who dance in unison.
